About Patti Digh

I’ve taught thousands of writers — some brilliant, some messy, all magical.

Hi, I’m Patti Digh — writer, teacher, and keeper of the orange desk. I'm the author of 8 published books, with more on the way. I am also a social justice activist dedicated to creating inclusive spaces.

I work with memoirists and other creatives who want to tell their lives with honesty, humor, and a little sparkle. My classrooms and retreats are equal parts deep, thoughtful, playful, and unexpectedly joyful.

For more than 25 years, I’ve taught writers to:

  • notice what matters (and what’s weirdly funny),
  • turn experiences into stories,
  • and write without fear of messing it up

I help people craft work that matters — whether it’s a memoir, a personal essay, or a new story that’s been whispering for years.

Whether you’re starting a memoir or novel, returning to writing after a long pause, or diving deeper into your creative life, you’ll do it in good company — and probably with a cup of something warm in hand.
